Artist Statement
My art practice is mainly drawing and painting based as it allows me to combine structical and chaotic elements . I conceptualize themes of authentic identity and narrate inner thoughts, while replicating a sense of chaos through movement. I am inspired by both the abstraction style and the emotionalism art theory to produce works that ignites motion whether it's visually or emotionally. Experimenting with masking tape in paint and pencil along with different angles of view to create a mosaic effect throughout the works. Forcing the viewer's eyes to wander all around the picture plane. Using a plethora of colours of acrylic, or multi-pencil linework, and/or layering, to propel the audience into feeling emotions, thinking a thought, or reliving a memory. The intention of each work is to make my audience feel any sort of emotion as they view it, rather than understand the piece itself. I want my pieces to flood your senses - overwhelming you, and causing you to think and wonder, “what am I seeing?”, “how am I feeling?”.
